Super Alternatives to Super Bowl Sunday

Super Bowl Sunday is fast approaching. This commercial mainstay has become a rite of passage for Americans throughout the years; You invite a bunch of people over, crack open some beers, nibble on party foods, and “watch” the game. But let’s be honest, who’s really paying attention to the action on the field unless you’re in contention to win the big pool at work? The Super Bowl is not for everyone. The commercials tend to be overly-hyped and ultimately overrated, the anthem and half-time shows are blatantly exaggerated, and the game can drag on and on for hours forcing you to sit through play after painful play. It seems kinda silly that an entire day has been set aside for a sports game, but such is life here in the States. If you’re not a fan of seeing two teams duke it out for a shiny trophy and want to do something else with your Sunday this February 3 instead, here are a few alternatives that are just as super.

“You either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain.” Yeah, yeah cliched lines delivered by superhuman peeps doesn’t exactly make for killer dialogue in a movie, but who cares?! This February 3, why not kick back with your favorite superheroes and host a superhero viewing party! Netflix is ALWAYS available and there’s a ton of blockbuster options. Get pumped with some of the best crime fighters and villains out there. From Christopher Nolan’s dark and gritty take on Batman in The Dark Knight, to the fun-filled sequel Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, to the crowd-pleaser Thor: Ragnarock, it’s the perfect opportunity for a sci-fi fantasy fest. And let’s not forget the brilliant Black Panther that was just nominated for Best Picture. Wakanda forever!

Football is a high stress game… So why not eliminate that anxiety this year by doing something more relaxing? Treat yourself and your friends like supermodels and have a spa day. With chillaxation on the brain, the pampering possibilities are endless. Maybe you’re in the mood to get a hot stone massage or you’re long overdue for an organic facial, whatever it is, throw on some lounge pants and grab your closest pals… and don’t forget who the real superstar of this Super Bowl Sunday is.

Have little kids at home and they’re not exactly thrilled to watch a 6-hour game? Then, head to the movies for some supercalifragilisticexpialidocious fun. Mary Poppins Returns just returned to cinemas and is an excellent choice for that Sunday night out. Its beautiful magic and heartwarming songs are the perfect combination of nostalgia to bring you back to the good old days.
